Life Quest.

Life Quest is a competitive card game in which players try to be the last player remaining.
Its rules were designed around a small number of easily understandable resources and three clearly differentiated card families.

Project overview
The project.
A 40-card deck supports a compact elimination game. Players manage health and shield points through Attack, Defence and Surprise cards, aiming to eliminate their opponents and remain the last player in the game.
01 / Design breakdown
Deck composition.
The deck contains 40 cards, divided into three families:
- 15 Attack cards
- 15 Defence cards
- 10 Surprise cards
02 / Design breakdown
Health, shield & elimination.
Each player begins with 2 health points and 1 shield point. Damage is applied to shield first, then to health. Shield is capped at 2 points.
The objective is to eliminate the other players and be the last player remaining.
03 / Design breakdown
A compact turn structure.
Each player starts with one card in hand. At the beginning of a turn, they draw a card and play one of the two cards in their hand. Once the effect is resolved, the turn ends.
04 / Design breakdown
Three distinct card families.
Colour and function distinguish each family.
- Attack — red cards, primarily used against other players
- Defence — blue cards, used for protection and healing
- Surprise — gold cards with more flexible effects, generally playable outside the player's normal turn
05 / Design breakdown
Keeping cards in circulation.
If a player has no card left in hand, they automatically draw another. When the draw pile is empty, the discard pile is shuffled and reused.
06 / Design breakdown
Adjustable game length.
Game length can be adjusted by changing starting health and shield amounts. The same core rules support different lengths of play.
